Submission Guidelines
Deadline for letters to the editor, press releases, and items for the Community Calendar is Friday at noon for the following Wednesday's edition. All submissions should include a name and contact phone number. Questions about submissions should be directed to Melina Makris, Editor, at 297-3723 or newsplace@aol.com.
LETTERS TO THE EDITOR
Letters to the editor must be sent via e-mail to be considered for publication. The phrase "letter to the editor" should be included in the subject line of the e-mail and a name, address, and contact phone number should be included with the letter.
Letters are subject to editing for length, propriety, and legal concerns.
PRESS RELEASES
E-mail is the preferred method of submission for press releases but they can also be sent by fax (845-297-6810) or U.S. Mail (84 E. Main Street, Wappingers Falls, NY, 12590).
When submitting by e-mail, including a short descriptive phrase about the content of the release in the subject line is helpful. Simply writing "press release" or leaving the subject line blank hinders expedient handling of the release.
Press releases should be written in paragraph form using full sentences, preferably in a single font style and size. The submission of flyers in lieu of written press releases is discouraged.
PHOTOGRAPHS
Photographs accompanying press releases can be sent via e-mail or U.S. Mail or be dropped off at the SDN offices. If e-mailed, photographs should be as high a resolution as possible and should be submitted either as attached JPEG files or embedded in the e-mail. Those submitting electronically should avoid sending photographs as part of a Microsoft Word document.
